Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data virtualplayerxchange.com collects, why, who processes it, and the choices you have.
Who we are
The site is operated by Virtual Player Exchange, Inc. (“Virtual Player Exchange”, “VPX∆”, “we”), United States. We are the controller of the personal data described here. For any privacy question or request, email info@virtualplayerxchange.com.
What we collect
- Waitlist form: your email address and the role that best describes you (required), and optionally your name, city or region, interests, how you heard about us, and whether you want email updates.
- Investor inquiry form: your first name and email address (required), and optionally your last name, how you heard about us, and any additional information you choose to write.
- Technical data sent with a form: your IP address, browser user agent and the time of submission. We use these to prevent spam and abuse.
- Analytics: pages viewed, approximate location (from your IP address, which Google does not store), device and browser type, and how you arrived on the site. See “Cookies and analytics” below.
We don’t ask for sensitive information, and we ask that you don’t include any in free-text fields.
Why we use it
- Waitlist: to keep a record of your interest and contact you about early access. We send news and Field Notes by email only if you ticked the updates box, and you can unsubscribe at any time. Legal basis: your consent, and our legitimate interest in managing early access.
- Investor inquiries: to read and reply to your inquiry. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us, and steps taken at your request.
- Analytics: to understand which pages are useful and improve the site. Legal basis: your consent for analytics cookies; our legitimate interest for the cookieless measurement described below.
- Security: to detect and block spam and abuse. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 in Google Consent Mode. When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies.
- Before you choose, or if you decline: Google Analytics receives cookieless measurements (for example, that a page was viewed). No analytics cookies are stored on your device, and these measurements are not linked to an identifier on your device.
- If you accept: Google Analytics sets the
_gaand_ga_FHZZZ8T47Jcookies, which distinguish visits for up to two years. - Your choice itself is saved in your browser’s local storage so we don’t ask again on every page.
You can change your mind at any time with the link at the bottom of every page. Declining deletes the analytics cookies we set. Advertising features of Google Analytics are never enabled.
Who processes your data
- Amazon Web Services hosts the site and stores form submissions (AWS Amplify, Lambda and DynamoDB in the United States, us-east-1), and delivers our internal notification emails (Amazon SNS). AWS privacy notice.
- Google provides Google Analytics. Google privacy policy.
- Our team’s email providers receive a copy of each submission, because we are notified by email when you submit a form.
- Our web development and operations provider maintains the site and its infrastructure on our behalf and may access submissions for that purpose.
Some of these providers process data in the United States. Where data protection law requires it, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep it
We keep waitlist entries and investor inquiries for as long as the waitlist or the inquiry is relevant, and delete them when you ask us to or when we no longer need them. Analytics data is kept for the data-retention period configured in our Google Analytics account, after which Google deletes it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict how we use it, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that took place before. To make a request, email info@virtualplayerxchange.com. We will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and to request its deletion. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has submitted personal data to us, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest, and access is limited to the people and providers who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site and VPX∆ evolve. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
